Olde Hickory Seven Devils

From Olde Hickory – Seven Devils- Our newest experiment with barrel aging. This time we brewed a delicious Scottish Ale (anyone remember our Nessie’s?) and aged it in bourbon barrels.Our brew master says “It’s like drinking a candy bar.” Notes of chocolate, caramel, and coconut blend with the caramal and roasty maltiness typical of Scotch Ales. Available on tap and in 22oz bottles.

Olde Hickory Brewery – Olde Hickory Seven Devils – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 8% abv.

Appearance:  Pours dark red with no head even after swirling.

Aroma:  Strawberry rhubarb pie. Brown sugar.

Taste:  Caramel, sweet bramble, cocoa,very light, faint spicy hops.

Mouthfeel:  Full bodied. Modest carbonation.

 Overall: Very tasty, enjoyable, but I wasn’t able to pick out any barrel character. Kind of reminded me of Hoppin’ Frog Barrel Aged Frosted Frog…minus the barrel.
