Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ Extra Ale
From Lagunitas Brewing – It looks like this economic mess is gonna be with us a while, doesn’t it? Brings to mind Woodie Guthrie… “Oh, the gamblin’ man is rich an’ the workin’ man is poor, And I ain’t got no home in this world anymore.”… That was the Great Depression… Feels like that now, but not as depressive. But we do got a home in the world’ it’s Us all. No (sic) so bad. To lighten your load and shire it all with you we built a TapRoom and Beer Sanctuary right here at the brewery……
Lagunitas Brewing Co. – Little Sumpin’ Extra Ale – 22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 8.74% abv. Found where Lagunitas beers are sold.
Appearance: Pours an clear amber gold, with a dense, frothy off white head.
Aroma: Dry malt, pineapple, cantaloupe, mango. Very floral and almost perfumy.
Taste: A fruity blend of many of the things I smelled in the aroma, and more: pineapple, mango, orange, grapefruit. Right after the burst of fruit, you get a very powerful layer of piney hop bitterness that lingers well after the sip.
Mouthfeel: Slightly sticky, medium bodied.
Overall: A really enjoyable, super hoppy double IPA. Good job Lagunitas.
Bonus: Watch out for TFP’s Don from Maryland’s Take on this beer next week!
