Great Lakes Blackout Stout
From Great Lakes Brewing Co. – Named after the infamous “Blackout of 2003” that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and down-home fun.
Great Lakes Brewing Co. – Blackout Stout – 12 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 9.0% abv. From trade on ratebeer.com with Dan from PA!
Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a tight knit gathering of tan foam at the top.
Aroma: The inside of a plastic milk jug and some roast.
Taste: Burnt malts, dark chocolate, dark chocolate covered dark fruit right off the bat. A small touch of black coffee that finishes with a spicy hop and burnt malt mixture. Also some chared woody notes in there as well.
Mouthfeel: A bit thin for my liking. Has a slightly silky texture, but still leaning towards watery.
Overall: Full flavored, tasty, but too thin for me.
