Great Divide Smoked Baltic Porter
From Great Divide – Smoked Baltic Porter is the sultry sister of a storied style. Brewed with traditional German malts and hops, this dark lager gets its special twist from a hefty addition of Bamberg smoked malt. This smoldering, medium-bodied lager is sure to please.
Great Divide Brewing – Great Divide Smoked Baltic Porter – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 6.2% abv. Purchased at Whole Foods Market Pasadena, CA.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown with a decent sized tan head that shrinks down to a 1/4 inch.
Aroma: Beautiful smokey malt. Not very hammy or bacony, but smokey none the less. Dark roasted malt and very muted dark fruit notes.
Taste: Smokey ham rind, burnt malt and spicy hops.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with low carbonation. Slick.
Overall: Very smokey and bold. Not nearly as smokey as Alaskan Smoked Porter, but still very good beer in it’s own right.
