Flying Dog The Truth Imperial IPA
From Flying Dog Brewery – Full Disclosure: This beer came to fruition because we saw a gap in our portfolio and we wanted to increase our market share. Sometimes the truth hurts. But most often, it’s damn refreshing. The Truth Imperial IPA–the latest addition to our year-round portfolio-is a hop bomb of some of the most distinct Pacific Northwest hops available today. Its sharp hop bitterness begins with huge pine notes on the nose, which evolve into bright citrus (think grapefruit) and subtle stone fruit flavors.
Flying Dog Brewery – Flying Dog The Truth Imperial IPA – 12 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 8.7% abv.
Appearance: pours an orange amber with an off white head that melts down to a 1/4 in cap.
Aroma: Bright dank hops. Tangerine and pine. Caramel like sweetness.
Taste: Big pine bitterness. Some juicy citrus and a toasty caramel malt back bone. Lasting earthy bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Fairly smooth and full bodied with a mild prickle.
Overall: A super tasty double IPA with tons of aroma and flavor without too much sweetness. It’s apparent Flying Dog has the ability to make a great IIPA, so I wish they would quite teasing us, and knock it out of the park year round with one. Now that my friends, is the truth.
