Review – Flying Dog Kerberos Tripel
A new offering from Flying Dog Brewing, and is packed as part of their new strong four pack, Canis Major Series, called Kerberos Tripel. Kerberos means “The Hound of Hades”, although I know it as a term in my computer geek world. Flying Dog has tried some Belgian inspired ales, and this by far is their best one.
Flying Dog Keberos Tripel – Poured into a Chimay chalice – 8.5% abv.
Appearance: Cloudy dark orange. No head but swirls are seen from the top looking down.
Aroma: Orange rind, cloves, coriander.
Taste: Coriander, spices, bitter hops, and grapefruit rind.
Mouthfeel: Fizzy on the tongue, a tad thick. The bitter hops lays on the back of the tongue during and after the sip.
Overall: A very bold and interesting take on the Tripel style. This might be even better in 6 months, when the hop bitterness and spiciness mellows a bit. Highly flavorful as is, definitely worth a try, especially if you enjoy Tripel.
