Firestone Pivo Hoppy Pils
From Firestone Walker – Everything we love about classic German Pilsner with a hoppy Bohemian twist. Pils is a bright straw colored lager beer with playful carbonation topped with beautiful white foam lace. Delicate lightly toasted malt flavors underscore noble German hop character. Hallertau-grown Magnum hops deliver the lupulin foundation while generous amounts of Spalter Select hops bring floral aromatic and spicy herbal notes. As a twist on the traditional Pils, we dry hop with German Saphir for a touch of bergamot zest and lemongrass. A refreshing, light-bodied and hop-driven Pils.
Firestone Walker – Firestone Pivo Hoppy Pils – 12 oz. bottle poured into a specialty glass – 5.3% abv.
Appearance: pours bright clear yellow gold with a modest sized tight white head.
Aroma: Big grassy Euro hop nose, biscuits and a touch floral.
Taste: Mixture of grassy herbal and spicy hops. Very dry pale malt. Bready. Mouth slapping twang finishes with sharp clean bitterness. That twang brings you back quickly for the next sip (or gulp.)
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with average carbonation, not too rough for a pils.
Overall: Great googly moogly! So drinkable, so tasty, just clean sturdy crisp beer. I’ve been sucking back Firestone’s pale offerings for years now with great joy, and am glad they’ve mixed it up with less sweet malt and Euro hops to break away from Pale 31/Union/Double Jack. You may have a person in your life who is leery about jumping into craft beer, this might just be the beer that converts them.
