Eagle Rock Stimulus

From Eagle Rock Brewery – Stimulus is a 7% Belgian Amber made with Intelligentsia Coffee.  The idea was to make a coffee beer that wasn’t black in color, and did more than just accentuate a “roasty” flavor.  The coffees produced by Intelligentsia are so nuanced and flavorful, that we wanted to accentuate those flavors and find complimentary components we could draw on in the beer.

Eagle Rock Brewery – Eagle Rock Stimulus – On tap at Eagle Rock Brewery Tasting Room – 7.75% abv.

Appearance: Pours a translucent bronze with a creamy 1/4 inch beige head.

Aroma: Freshly ground coffee, caramel and toffee.

Taste: Prepared cold coffee, roasted malt and fruity yeast.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with subtle carbonation.

Overall:  An interesting, one of a kind beer. Complex. As ERB mentions, this isn’t a typical coffee beer, so no it’s not roasty, and there are no stale grind flavor to be found, which is a plus in my book.
