Drake’s Alpha Session
From Drake’s Brewing – Our “Nor Cal bitter” is a boldly-hopped, but mercifully sessionable 3.8% ale that we think stands up to anything else the West Coast has to offer. With a simple base of 2-row barley, Maris Otter, and C-45 malt, our California style shines through with a classic mix of West Coast hops, followed by a generous dry hop of Simcoe, Citra, and CTZ for a piney, citrusy beer that’s just about perfect as we head into the long, hot, beer soaked days of lawnmower and festival season.
Drake’s Brewing – Drake’s Alpha Session – 12 oz.bottle poured into a pint glass. 3.8% abv.
Appearance: Pours a fairly clear yellow gold. The white sudsy head subsides to a tight thin cap.
Aroma: Lemon zest and other citrus notes, animal cracker like malt or sweet cereal.
Taste: Spicy bitter hopping, husky dry pale malt, finishes earthy and bitter with a nice long duration.
Mouthfeel: On the thin side. Prickly carbonation.
Overall: Thirst quenching, fresh, easy to drink and has more hop character than beers double it’s size in some cases.
