Crooked Stave Wild Wild Brett Indigo (W.W.B.I.)
From Crooked Stave – Wild Wild Brett Indigo is the sixth installment of the WWB series. WWB Indigo had blueberries added into the fermentation and during barrel aging. Known for their deep indigo color, the blueberries add a tart fruit aroma on top of the earthy Brettanomyces tropical fruit flavors.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy dark orange with a thin white film.
Aroma: Blueberry yogurt, a touch of funk.
Taste: Skunky hop, mild pale malt, blueberry greatness, yogurt. The blueberry lends a little tartness, but nothing I would consider sour.
Mouthfeel: Thin, juicy. Moderate carbonation.
Overall: Very tasty, very balanced. I had no expectations going in to this either. I’ve heard over the top ooohs and ahhs for Crooked Stave and I’ve heard people dismiss their offerings. I’ve had three of their beers now and have been satisfied with each one I tried.
