Crooked Stave St. Bretta
From Crooked Stave – Not only is St. Bretta an evolution of Wild Wild Brett Orange, but also it will be ever-changing depending on the fresh citrus available that season. For our spring release we decided to brew St. Bretta with fresh Minneola Tangelo. Each seasonal release of St. Bretta will have a diverse range of citrus fruit added to keep the beer fresh and exciting (the summer release was brewed with blood oranges)!
Crooked Stave – Crooked Stave St. Bretta (Spring) – 12 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 5.5% abv.
Appearance: Pours a dull hazy yellow gold with a soapy head that subsides to a thin white film.
Aroma: Funky brett, swimming pool, no hop aroma, just a really funky yeasty nose on this boy.
Taste: Tangy citrus, crab apple, slight vinegar tartness, soft pineapple brett, mild but noticeable bitterness, probably from the yeast more than any hopping.
Mouthfeel: Juicy, medium bodied, modest carbonation.
Overall: Pleasant tartness, nice citrus notes, very drinkable. I’ve found with Crooked Stave beers that I like them or not, and this one is in the like column for sure.
