Bootlegger’s Black Phoenix

From Bootlegger’s Brewery – Black Phoenix melds rich bold coffee with the smokey flavors of Chipotle peppers, giving it just a touch of heat. To insure the freshest coffee available, we had our local Orange County friends, Kean Coffee, custom roast a batch for us. Notes of chocolate complement this complex and bold stout. This special release will only be available in limited quantities so enjoy it while it lasts.

Bootlegger’s Brewery – Black Phoenix – 22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 6.7% abv. From the brewery.

Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with floaties in the body. Not much head to be found, but a few suds here and there at the top.

Aroma: Moderate whiffs of coffee and roasted malt in the front and a little bit of roasted pepper in the back.

Taste: Prepared coffee, dark chocolate, and smokey roasted hot peppers.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied, and warm on the throat.

Overall: Highly drinkable, pretty complex, really tasty.
