Almanac Dogpatch Strawberry
From Almanac Beer Company – Swanton Berry Farm is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Warmed by the summer sun during the day and cooled by humid marine breezes at night, Swantons fields grow some of the sweetest strawberries in California. We hoarded these magical berries and added them to our Dogpatch Sour ale before aging it in used wine barrels. This complex beer is our ode to the fertile coastal farmlands of California.
Almanac Beer Company – Almanac Dogpatch Strawberry – 12.68 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 7.5% abv.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy iced tea amber with no head, ring, or swirls.
Aroma: Ripe carton of strawberries, wine barrel, funk. Almost like an adult strawberry lemonade.
Taste: Tart and sweet strawberry. Funky wine barrel, very lightly toasted malt. No hop presence. The funk finish is slightly vinegary. Alcohol well integrated.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, modest carbonation.
Overall: I enjoyed this as much, if not more than Dogpatch Sour. I hope Almanac experiments with blending different vintages of this.
