Ølfabrikken Porter
From Bryggeriet Ølfabrikken– A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar.
Bryggeriet Ølfabrikken – Ølfabrikken Porter – 650 ml bottle poured into a goblet. 7.7% abv. From online trade.
Appearance: Pours a motor oil like viscous brown with a dense khaki head that subsides to a creamy film. No lacing left behind on this session.
Aroma: Chocolaty roasty malt, herbal minty hops, oily coffee beans.
Taste: Roast, vinous fruit, dark chocolate, minerals, wood, black coffee. Buried underneath all the darkness lies some spicy Euro hops. The bitter roast lingers forever.
Mouthfeel: Thick, sticky, coating with spicy carbonation.
Overall: World class. There was a bit of hype surrounding this beer, and those beers I hold to a much higher standard when reviewing. I am glad it exceeded my expectations.
