Winter News Update from Idle Hands Craft Ales
Starting Tuesday, February 5th, we’ll have a collaboration beer, Vee Brew, on tap at Vee Vee in Jamaica Plain. Vee Brew is a Belgian blonde with fresh orange zest that was specially brewed to celebrate the restaurant’s 5th anniversary. Head over to JP and try Vee Brew with a delicious dinner. Be sure to ask owner Danny V about his experience commercially co-brewing the beer at Idle Hands. In case you can’t make it to the restaurant, we’ll have a limited amount of Vee Brew available at the brewery for growler fills starting Thursday, February 7th.
For those lucky enough to have snagged tickets, to the Beer Advocate Extreme Beer Festival – Night of the Barrels (NotB) on Friday, February 8th, Idle Hands will be making its inaugural appearance. Both our Bourbon barrel-aged Triplication and our soon to be released, Darkness Prevails (aka Absence of Light aged for 6 months in a 2nd use bourbon barrel) will be available for tasting at the NotB. Oh but sorry folks…we won’t be participating in the regular festival on Saturday, but that just means you will instead see us at the brewery for growler hours.
We’re happy to announce that a new batch of our Bourbon Barrel-Aged Triplication (bottles) will be available for sale at the brewery starting Saturday, February 9th. The 12.12.12 release sold out within two weeks so don’t wait this time! And stay tuned for the forthcoming bottle release of Darkness Prevails. We tasted a test bottle a few days ago and we believe that after a few more weeks of conditioning, it’ll be ready for public consumption.
If Punxatawny Phil is right, Spring will be coming sooner rather than later. Speaking of which, results of our informal 2012 Favorite One-Off Beer poll are in: D’aison narrowly ousted Rosemary for Remembrance by just a few votes. Oh, Baby! ran a close third, but rumor has it that grandma-to-be got a little carried away with the voting process 🙂 Given these results, you can expect to see D’aison return in 2013 – and in more readily available quantities (hint, bottles). Thanks to everyone who voted!
And last but certainly not least, we have some exciting news to share with you, our loyal fans. Plans have been put in place to increase our capacity (think shiny, new brewhouse and fermenters) which ultimately means more Idle Hands beer – both bottles and draft – in more places!! Our hope is to have everything fully in place before the start of the busy summer season. Stay tuned for more details and spread the word!
Cheers,
Chris & Grace
