Wiley Roots Brewing Unveils Undead Apumpalyptica and Variants for Spooky Season
(GREELEY, CO) – Back from the dead, Wiley Roots Brewing Company will debut Undead Apumpalyptica, Undead Apumpalyptica Pecan, and Undead Apumpalyptica Pumpkin Spiced Latte on September 22, 2023, at 12pm MST. All three variants will be available on-tap at the brewery and in 12 oz four-packs to-go with limited distribution.
Undead Apumpalyptica is a barleywine brewed with allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The recipe was resurrected from the brewery’s discontinued fan favorite, Apumpalyptica, a beer that was last released in the fall of 2016. Undead Apumpalyptica Pecan adds toasted pecan to the recipe, while Undead Apumpalyptica Pumpkin Spiced Latte adds cold brewed coffee and marshmallow to the base recipe. The brewery announced on Facebook and Instagram that the beer was “back from the dead” and has a “bigger and bolder flavor with a maltier base from over 30 hours of boiling.”
Wiley Roots is best known for their wide range of beer styles and flavors, including Slush, a fruited sour series, Leafer, an Autumn Lager, and Super 77, their multi-award winning Wheat Ale. The brewery opened in 2013 and just celebrated their Ten-Year Anniversary in July. Miranda Carbaugh said they have been revisiting some of their favorite recipes over the years, and Apumpalyptica was at the top of the list, as pumpkin beers have gained a resurgence among beer drinkers.
“It’s been fun to see pumpkin beers doing so well again. It’s been over seven years since we released the last batch of Apumpalyptica and we’re really excited it’s back. It’s one of those beers that people have been asking about, so we thought it was time. We made some changes to the original recipe by making it bigger, maltier, and darker, with tons of caramel and toffee flavors to match the monster spice profile that I think people are going to love, even if they don’t like barleywines or pumpkin spice beers. It’s a great beer to introduce to a new group of people that want to find something different than what is out there, something unique and special” said Miranda Carbaugh, Co-Owner and Chief Operations Officer.
Undead Apumpalyptica is a full flavored 11% ABV barleywine style ale packed with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, perfect for colder nights. Four-packs will be available starting September 22, 2023 from the Wiley Roots taproom, with limited distribution in select markets outside of Colorado.
