Two Roads Brewing Introduces Bergamonster Wheat Ale
(Stratford,CT) – Two Roads has created a “monster!” Introducing Bergamonster Wheat Ale, the newest beer in the Two Roads “Road Less Traveled” collection.
A big wheat ale with distinctive spices; Bergamonster uses the peel of the bergamot orange. Grown in dry Mediterranean climates, bergamot is a relatively rare, sour fruit whose peel has long been used as an essence to flavor teas, confectionery items and even orange marmalade.
“This is a new beer for us and one that I am proud to say is truly unique,” said Brewmaster Phil Markowski. “It wasn’t easy but we tracked down enough fresh bergamot oranges to make a full batch of Bergamonster. Bergamot oranges are very intense and really different from other types of oranges. They lend a distinctive “perfume” note and are famously used as the signature flavoring in Earl Grey tea. I thought, why not use them in a beer? The result is a restrained but recognizable note of bergamot character that makes this beer one-of-a-kind.”
Bergamonster also features a collection of New and Old World style hops such as citra and hallertau tradition. Its ABV hovers around 8.2% but the beer is deceptively smooth. and approachable.
Bergamonster is available on draft and in 750mL bottles in the Two Roads tasting room and select accounts in the markets where Two Roads brands are sold.
