Tröegs News Tidbits for April 2010
Here are some nice news tidbits out of the latest Tröegs Tales newsletter including release dates for Scratch #28 and Flying Mouflan. For more information on Tröegs, please visit www.troegs.com as well as our Tröegs Archive.
Scratch #28 is now available in the Tasting Room in cases, six-packs and growlers. Here are the vital details:
- O.G.: 15.3 Plato
- ABV: 6.1%
- IBU: 13
- Malt: Rye, White Wheat, Munich, Vienna, Pils
- Yeast: Andechs Klosterbrauerei Weizen
- Hops: Northern Brewer, Perle, Hersbrucker, Crystal
- Codename: Troggen Roggen
For Scratch #28, the Tröegs team decided to brew a beer to celebrate the early spring weather. The resulting brew is a take on the Roggenbier style—an uncommon German ale brewed with a portion of rye malt and a weizenbier yeast strain.
Live Beer/Live Music Returns
Join us on Saturday, April 24, at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center for an evening of Live Beer and Live Music featuring Frog Holler, Starsan Quartet and Colebrook Road—along with a delicious firkin of Tröegs beer on the bar.
Tickets are $10 and are now available online. Doors open at 7 p.m. and music begins at 8 p.m.—right after we tap that firkin of Tröegs Beer! We strongly advise buying advance tickets for this show since it will most likely sell-out.
Tickets are available at www.harrisburgarts.com. Click on the Calendar link at the top of the page and select the event on April 24 to purchase your tickets.
Javahead Stout Update
Javahead Stout cases and six packs have been released throughout our distribution region. If you can’t find Javahead Stout in your area, please ask your favorite beer retailer or restaurant to start stocking it. Javahead draft and 22 ounce bottles will start shipping from the brewery the week of April 12 and should be available throughout our region by the end of April.
The Flying Mouflan Set for Release
We will begin shipping The Flying Mouflan the week of April 19 with distribution completed in early May. The Flying Mouflan will be available in 22 ounce bottles.
“We classify this beer as pushing Nugget Nectar off the side of a cliff, It is bold and intenseˆthink hops dipped in candied sugar and rolled in dark chocolate nibs. Over time, the Flying Mouflan transforms into lush raisin and chocolate overtones as the hops subside and the rich barley flavors come out in the beer. “—John Trogner
