Tröegs News: Mad Elf, GABF Gold and Scratch #80
Taken from the latest Tröegs Tales, some news items on Mad Elf, big winnings at GABF and the ongoing Scratch Series project.
GABF 2012 Winnings
If you haven’t heard the news by now, we are pleased to announce that Tröegs fared quite well at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Denver, CO on October 13. In addition to hauling back three gold medals for our year-round beers HopBack Amber and DreamWeaver Wheat, as well as our seasonal Sunshine Pils, we also captured the Mid-Size Brewing Company of the Year award. Thar’s gold in them thar beers!
Mad Elf Season
Mad Elf Ale made its 2012 debut on October 15 when bottles hit the streets. But wait! The frenzy and excitement stirred by the Elf will continue into November as it hits draft lines all across our distribution footprint. Expect Mad Elf to start popping up on draft Thanksgiving week. Don’t forget to pick up a six-pack, case, or 101-oz. gift pack at your local distributor or the Tröegs Brewery General Store… because once it’s gone, you’ll have to wait until next season to get some! Speaking of our holiday ale, Mad Elf recently got a cheesy makeover when we unveiled our new seasonal Snack Bar menu in September. One item that stands out as a festive holiday treat is our Mad Elf Fondue. Featuring eight ounces of delectable cheese sauce made with white cheddar, heavy cream, milk, flour, and (of course) Mad Elf, we bake this creamy concoction until it is golden brown and then serve with crusty baguette pieces and sliced apples for dipping. Stop by the Snack Bar and try some!
Scratch Beer Series
• Pumpkin Ale – After a slight delay due to Hurricane Sandy, our much-anticipated Scratch #79 – Pumpkin Ale was just released today. Dubbed “Master of Pumpkins,” Scratch #79 is only available on draft in our Tasting Room, so be sure to stop in and get some before it vanishes into the night. And yes, we will fill growlers.
• Belgian Brown Abbey Ale – To celebrate Chris Trogner’s first wedding anniversary, we’ve returned to his favorite beer style – Belgian Brown Abbey Ale. Scratch #80 will hit draft lines in the Tasting Room very soon. Also, we will have a limited number of cases for sale in our General Store.
