The Bruery Announces Jim Mellem As Director of Brewing Operations
(Placentia,CA) – The Bruery has brought Jim Mellem onto their team to take the role of Director of Brewing Operations. Jim will oversee all beer production operations for both The Bruery and newly launched Bruery Terreux™.
Jim graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Food Science and Technology and comes to The Bruery after a tenured stint with Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. While at Sierra Nevada Jim held many roles, including Research Analyst, Assistant Brewmaster, and Quality Operations Manager. Jim began with Sierra in Chico, CA and later relocated to their Mills River, NC facility.
While in Mills River, Jim helped Sierra Nevada commission a 200 bbl. brewhouse/cellar/lab/packaging line and speaks of it as “the most insane, tiring, draining, educational, and rewarding thing [he] has ever done professionally…yet!”

Jim, his wife Jessica, and 9ish-pound cat, Abby, have relocated from North Carolina to Orange County to help The Bruery continue their exploration of beer along with Patrick and his team.
