SweetWater’s IPA Judged “Best IPA in the Country”
Victorious Among 16 of the Best in the US
SweetWater IPA took on 15 of the best IPA’s in the country and came out on top. Bragging rights are in order for the hometown kids as SweetWater’s IPA bested an acclaimed list of some of the most repected beers from some of the most repected breweries in the country.
Dogfish Head 60 minute, Stone IPA, Boulder Mojo, Victory Hop Devil, Lagunitas IPA, Sierra Nevado Torpedo were some of the headliners going into this winner take all judging – March Hoppy Madness style.
The AJC assembled a mixed panel of beer judges, writers, and critics to taste their way through 8 Brews from the West and 8 from the East to narrow it down to an elite 8, followed with their version of the Final 4.
Lee Dickson, beer manager at Brick Store Pub in Decatur, served as steward, set up the tasting, and made sure there was no dirty fighting – and as most of you know if you have had the opportunity to try it SweetWater IPA “The Beer You’ve Been Training For!” was the big winner.

Bias maybe, but Sweetwater IPA beats anything dogfish has made. I have nothing but love for Two Hearted Ale though. Drinking it now.

Judges must be biased or paid off. Not saying Sweetwater is not good, but to say it is better than Dogfishhead is definitely not true. If you really want the best IPA’s look no further than Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, Loose Cannon Heavy Sea’s Hop3 Ale, and of course 90 minute Dogfishhead.
