SweetWater Brewing Company’s year-end, seasonal Catch and Release favorite returns this month and this stiffy of a stout is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face. This award-winning (Silver Medal Winner at the World Beer Cup) Imperial Stout offers a robust blanket of roast, chocolate, coffee, plums and raisins that will sink into your taste buds. An explosive burst of citrus hops complement the warm rich flavors and will send you over the top. This year leaves something of a surprise for all of us, as the 22oz bottles are printed with 2010, but the beer won’t be showing up till early 2011. Let’s chalk it up to a true Happy Ending to one hell of a year!
Happy Ending die-hards can find this hyped-up stout in six packs, 22oz bombers, 15.5 and 5.2 kegs. It’s dry-hopped with Cascade and Williamette hops and finishes at an impressive 9 percent abv. As with all brews in the Catch and Release series, enjoy it while you can, because all good things come to an end and this Happy Ending will fade with the arrival of spring. But don’t worry; you’ll have the opportunity for another Happy Ending same time next year.
