Hello Surly Nation,
The brewhouse has been rocking the last few weeks. I’m not really sure what has happened, but everybody seems to be drinking Surly all of the sudden. Maybe it’s all the press we have been getting or the weather turning or folks just discovering who we are. Or maybe it’s the same 5 guys I see at all the Surly events that are doing all the drinking??? The 3 new 60 bbl-fermentors we bought for seasonal beers…well, we have them filled up with Furious, Bitter Bender and Cynic. Just yesterday we filled every fermentor in the place. That, plus the beer in the brite tanks, puts us at 909 barrels of beer in tanks. For comparison, we sold 874 barrels of beer our first year in 2006!
Firkin Fest was great. Lots of fantastic beers and lots of drinkers made for a great event. Props to the folks at the Happy Gnome for buying the beer from brewers, flying in judges and doing all they did to make it a great event. Good beer events take a lot of work from a number of people and it looks like this will be another great addition to the TC beer scene.

Speaking of good beer, I can’t seem to find down here in Orlando while on the family vacation. I did find some “good” beer in the local supermarket (all warm of course) and it all sucked. Diactyl bombs from sitting out warm too long or from breweries not paying attention to what they are shipping out. Either way, it’s good to know that back home in Minnesota, the beer scene keeps getting better because you guys keep drinking and demanding the good stuff.
