Stone Kicks Off Distribution In Chicago April 1st
Stone Kicks Off Distribution in Illinois with “Stone Beer Week in Chicago”
Chicago will be celebrating the arrival of the nation’s 18th largest craft brewery with “Stone Beer Week-Chicago” from April 1st – 8th, featuring a slew of events at Chicago bars worthy of Stone beers. We’ll be sending CEO Greg Koch and Brewmaster & President Steve Wagner to meer fledgling Stone fans and share some rarities from the darkest depths of our archives.
Stone Brewing Co., will begin distributing its unique, big character beers in the eight county Chicagoland area on April 1st, 2010. With the addition of Illinois, Stone beers will be available in 35 states and 4 countries.
Stone has signed a distribution agreement with Warrenville, IL-based Windy City Distribution, the first beer distributor in America whose entire sales force has achieved Cicerone Certification (the beer equivalent of sommelier accredidation.)
In September, Stone kicked-off distribution in Louisiana with a non-stop 3 day celebration. The events were so successful that the New Orleans distributor ran out of beer—a shock to a company accustomed to the demands of Mardi Gras – requiring an emergency shipment from the brewery in San Diego. The massive number of emails, Tweets, and Facebook posts from eager Chicago beer fans suggests an even stronger response is likely in Chicago.
Stone is working hard to meet the ever-increasing demand for its beers in new states and territories. Stone recently purchased a $6.2 million, 57,509 sq. ft. building to allow for further expansion of brewing and distribution operations. The building, which was officially opened on Friday, February 19th 2010, features 23,400 sq. ft. of cold storage, nearly tripling Stone’s capacity to store beer.
