Sneak Peek at What Karl Strauss is Brewing for the Holidays
As you know, Karl Strauss has been stepping up their game, and making gigantic beers. Last year, they made ‘To The 9’s” which was a toasty Imperial IPA. This year, they will be starting a 12 days of Christmas San Diego Style series, and will be starting off with a bang.
Karl Strauss will be brewing a Baltic Porter and aging it in tawny port barrels from San Pasqual Winery (they are our neighbors down the street, so it’s a really cool partnership). We are naming the beer “Parrot in a Palm Tree” as a play off of the 12 days of Christmas done San Diego style. It is the first in a series of 12, and we are looking forward to a line-up of big, bold beers that will age well and play off the San Diego theme.
When asked about what some might say in regards to the relationship between this and The Bruery’s 12 Days of Christmas strong ale series, already in place…
“We had the idea for a more playful version a couple years back but it is just now making it out. We hope to put out equally good holiday beers, and have a little fun with it too. We think there is room for both and we don’t mean any disrespect or rivalry by going forward with our San Diego version.”

Guys, keep up the good work, but “peak” used in this case is actually peek. So much for spell check.
