Smuttynose Brewing Expands Distribution to East Tennessee
(Hampton, NH) – Nearly one month into full operations at the new Smuttynose brewery in Hampton, NH, the Granite State’s largest locally-owned brewery can now begin saying “yes” to new distribution partners after brewing at capacity in the brewery’s original home for nearly four years. Their first new business partner is Carter Distributing, of Chattanooga, and Cleveland, Tennessee. The first shipments of Smuttynose beer will hit taps on July 1, at Chattanooga’s Heaven and Ale.
Signing with Carter was very appealing, said Peter Egelston, Smuttynose Founder and President: “Carter has some strong craft brands but their roster isn’t too big. We understood early on that they’ve got a deep understanding of the growing craft beer market in East Tennessee and enough energy to represent us well. We’ll make sure we have enough beer to meet their needs.”
Tony Giannasi, Carter’s Craft Brands Manager, could barely contain his excitement over his new signing portfolio: “Smuttynose has an all-star lineup of beers that reads like a greatest hits album. From beer geek prize Baltic Porter and best-selling Finestkind IPA to new releases Vunderbar Pilsner and Bouncy House IPA, these guys offer something for everyone at a high level of quality.” Giannasi cited Chattanooga’s growing craft beer culture and city-wide emphasis on beer education and hand-selling as the main reasons he feels the new arrival will be a success.
