Shenandoah Brewing News
From Shenandoah Brewing, the Washington D.C. areas first and only brewery, brew on premeses and brewpub. Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder!
For this week:
Brewing appointments available this Saturday;
things to brew in April;
hops;
beers on tap – the beast is in a firkin and on the handpull and oak barrel conditioned beers make a return(!);
another sample of some of the emails I get; and
beer quotes for the week.
Brewing appointments available this weekend!
We had two large groups cancel for this Saturday, so we now have some open slots for brewing this Saturday. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to get a last-minute appointment on a Saturday! The slots currently available are 10:15, 10:45, 11:45, 2:15pm, and 4:45pm. Call Karen and reserve a slot!
Things to brew in April.
Yep, it is almost April already and that means it is time to start thinking about what to brew for the late spring and early summer. April is the perfect time to start brewing some lagers for the summer. Maibocks, pils, andoctoberfest style beers make for good drinking throughout the late spring and early summer. How about an amber bock? Don’t forget that Memorial Day will soon be here – allow for enough time to have your favorite beer in your hand that weekend!
We have hops!
We currently have, in varying amounts, Cascade, Centennial, Warrior, Chinook, Mt Hood, East Kent Golding, Tettnang and Saaz. We should be getting Northern Brewer and Hallertauer in at the end of the week.
Beers on tap this week at our pub.
Mountain Beast on the handpull!
Oak Barrel conditioned Old Rag Mountain Ale and Stony Man Stout will be on draft this week! These are the regulars we make that are conditioned in oak barrels formerly used for bourbon. These beers have been in the barrels for a little over a month and are quite tasty!
On draft at various times during this the week: Big Meadows Pale Ale, White Water Wheat Beer, Skyland Red Ale, Centennial Ale, Old Rag Mountain Ale, Stony Man Stout, Snozberry (our Centennial Ale flavored with snozberries from Oregon), Oak Barrel conditioned Old Rag, and Mountain Beast Ale.
Email of the week.
The feedback I have received regarding the weekly Brew News email indicates that everyone is amused by the emails I receive on a regular basis asking for stuff. As they just keep coming, I’ll keep sharing with you. Here is this week’s offering…

Beer quotes for the week.
When we drink, we get drunk. When we get drunk, we fall asleep. When we fall asleep, we commit no sin. When we commit no sin, we go to heaven. Sooooo, let’s all get drunk and go to heaven!
–Brian O’Rourke
Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
