Schell’s Oktoberfest Returns, Coincides with Brewery Celebration
(New Ulm, MN)- August Schell Brewing Company the second-oldest family-owned brewery in the country, brewer of Schell’s and Grain Belt, has released its biggest seasonal Schell’s Oktoberfest into the market.
Schell’s Oktoberfest is a Märzen style beer, deep copper in color with a full body. The beer has a moderate hop bitterness complimented by a full malt flavor and sweetness. Caramel and malty notes overshadow the moderate hop aroma. The beer comes in 6-packs, 12-packs, 1/6 barrels and 1/2 barrels.
To add to the festive nature of the season, Schell’s Brewery has brought back their “When the Keg Blows, the Boot Goes” promotion. Kits complete with banners, pennants, coasters, posters and two authentic German boot glasses are sold to bars. When the keg blows, the lucky patron purchasing the last glass will receive their Oktoberfest beer in the boot mug and the glass is theirs to keep.
If the beer wasn’t enough to get you to dust off your lederhosen, get ready for Schell’s Oktoberfest on the brewery grounds on October 12th. Schell’s Brewery will be hosting its second Oktoberfest celebration at the brewery. A large fest tent covers the parking lot with live bands playing festive music throughout the day. Lederhosen clad servers rush liter mugs of Oktoberfest beer through the crowds to Stammtisch (reserved) tables where thirsty festers sing and dance the day away. Tour guides lead groups of visitors through the historic grounds and into the brew house for a look inside the brewing process. The sounds of singing and clinking mugs fill the Schell’s Brewery grounds from 11-4, when festers can then make their way to the Holiday Inn or downtown New Ulm to continue the party. Admission to the Schell’s Oktoberfest grounds is $5. IDs are required for beer purchases.
