“Today’s craft brewers and drinkers know no boundaries when it comes to big flavors and interesting ingredients in beer. Our brewers are constantly searching for new ingredients and experimenting with beer styles because part of the fun in being a craft brewer is discovering that the surprising combination of beer and chocolate creates a beer as delicious and complex as Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock,” says Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams® beers. “Beer enthusiasts will discover that this specialty brew is perfect to pour and pair at the holiday table with seasonal dishes and desserts.”
“It’s no secret that the American palate enjoys experimenting with various taste combinations,” says Christian Aschwanden, CEO for Felchlin. “Through our partnership with Samuel Adams, we wanted to naturally join beer and chocolate together in the finest way. This new batch of Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock has a distinct flavor and deserves a place next to all types of holiday fare.”
Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock is brewed using Felchlin’s Grand Cru Sauvage, a highly-regarded and rare dark chocolate made from the uncultivated wild Bolivian cacao beans sourced from the dense rainforests located in the small town of Baures, Bolivia. For centuries, this wild cacao has been considered the best in the world. This wild cocoa displays a rich, dark, exotic flavor with notes of honey, vanilla and dried fruits. Brewing Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock with Cru Sauvage cacao nips creates a dark, decadent beer with a big, malty character, complex full-body taste and velvety finish.
Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock is the perfect accompaniment to any holiday meal or can simply be enjoyed on its own as a dessert. It pairs particularly well with holiday appetizers such as mascarpone cheese and fresh fruit and main course favorites that include the savory flavors of turkey, chicken, pork and fish. It can also be the perfect end to your festive feast when paired with those favorite chocolate infused desserts, such as chocolate mousse and mocha cheesecake.
Just in time for holiday sipping and gift-giving, this new brew will be available nationwide in early November in select off premise accounts for a suggested retail price of $14.99. Packaged in an attractive 750 ml amber bottle with a festively embossed pewter label, Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock is unlike any offering on shelves today.
THE BOSTON BEER COMPANY BACKGROUND:
The Boston Beer Company began in 1984 with a generations-old family recipe that Founder and Brewer Jim Koch uncovered in his father’s attic. After bringing the recipe to life in his kitchen, Jim brought it to bars in Boston with the belief that drinkers would appreciate a complex, full-flavored beer, brewed fresh in America. That beer was Samuel Adams Boston Lager®, and it helped catalyze what became known as the American craft beer revolution.
Today, the Company brews more than 21 styles of beer. The Company uses the traditional four vessel brewing process and often takes extra steps like dry-hopping and a secondary fermentation known as krausening. It passionately pursues the development of new styles and the perfection of its classic beers by constantly searching for the world’s finest ingredients. While resurrecting traditional brewing methods, the Company has earned a reputation as a pioneer in another revolution, the “extreme beer” movement, where it seeks to challenge drinkers’ perceptions of what beer can be. The Boston Beer Company strives to elevate the image of American craft beer by entering festivals and competitions the world over, and in the past five years it has won more awards in international beer competitions than any other brewery in the world. The Company remains independent, and brewing quality beer remains its single focus. While Samuel Adams is the country’s largest-selling craft beer, it accounts for just under one percent of the U.S. beer market. For more information, please visit www.samueladams.com.
