Rahr & Sons Celebrates 1st Can-iversary With Rahr’s Blonde
(Fort Worth, Texas) — Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. is marking its first can-iversary—the one year anniversary of its launch of canned beer—with the release of Rahr’s Blonde in limited edition photo cans for summer.
The can labels will feature the image and signature of owner Fritz Rahr’s mother, Jodell, who was a model in the 1940s and 1950s, as well as the second runner up in the 1952 Miss Universe pageant.
“Rahr’s Blonde is our signature brew—the first beer we produced commercially,” said Rahr. “The Blonde labels have always featured an illustration of my mother, and these new cans are another way to pay homage to her.”
Only 4,000 cases of this year’s limited edition Rahr’s Blonde, a Munich-style helles lager, will be released. Six-packs of the cans will hit store shelves just before Memorial Day. In future years, the collectible can-iversary cans will feature different images of Jodell.
In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. will host a festive tasting at the brewery on Saturday, May 2 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. where all attendees will receive an exclusive skeleton-print pint glass. The tasting will feature live music from High School Caesar, as well as food from Salsa Limon and Gepetto’s Pizza, which will serve a special Mexican pizza. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.
Following the event, Rahr & Sons will run a contest for the most creative painted or colored skeleton-print pint glass; those who post a photo of their customized glass to Instagram with the hashtag #RahrCincoPint will have the chance to win a Rahr prize pack. Winners will be chosen on Friday, May 8.
