Rahr & Sons Brewing Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Rahrzehnt
(Fort Worth, TX) — Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., the brewery that started the North Texas craft beer movement, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this November. Owners Fritz and Erin Rahr, along with the Rahr & Sons’ team, will commemorate the occasion with the launch of an exclusive 10th anniversary beer, as well as various events in the DFW area and an extended weekend of celebrations Nov. 20-23.
Rahr & Sons’ 10th anniversary brew, Rahrzehnt (a play on words of “jahrzehnt”, which means decade in German), is an imperial chocolate milk stout made with Dude, Sweet Chocolate. Rahrzehnt will be available on local taps, as well as in stores as a 22 oz. bottle starting the week of Nov. 10; the retail price is approximately $11.99.
The first of Rahr & Sons’ many 10th anniversary celebrations will be on the patio at Central Market in Fort Worth on Sunday, Nov. 9 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be live music and special beer pricing. Then, to kick off their anniversary weekend, Rahr & Sons will throw a pre-party at T&P Tavern on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
On Friday, Nov. 21 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Rahr & Sons will host a VIP event at the brewery, featuring rare beer tastings with food pairings, and live music from High School Caesar. Attendees will enjoy a selection of more than 20 beers on tap with food by Chadra Mezza & Grill, Reata’s Mike Micallef, T&P Tavern and chef Terry Chandler of Fred’s Texas Cafe. Tickets are $75, and space is limited. Dress is “tuxedo casual”.
On Saturday, Nov. 22, the brewery will host an extended tour & tasting event from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with more than 30 rare beers available for tasting. Selected beers include: The Regulator, Midnight Cab 2013, Midnight Cab 2013 with Figs, Iron Joe, 9th Anniversary Belgian Golden Ale, Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer 2013, Batch 1000 Pilsner, Iron Thistle, Angry Santa and Visionary Pumpkin Ale aged with rum barrel spirals. Additional beers will be announced on the Rahr & Sons Facebook page leading up to the event.
Attendees will receive a collectible glass, and enjoy live music from Big Mike’s Box of Rock. They will also have the opportunity to customize a commemorative t-shirt at a mobile screen printer. Food trucks, including Lee’s Grilled Cheese, Chadra Mezza & Grill, Schnitzel Shack and Gepettos Pizza, will be onsite for the celebration. VIP tickets are $20, which allow early access from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with live music from Brad Thompson; only 500 VIP tickets are available. Regular admission is $10.
