Put Your Mark On Upland Brewing’s Champagne Velvet
To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Upland Brewing Co. is revitalizing Champagne Velvet, the brand that defined local beer in Indiana for the first half of the 20th century.
In December, Upland ran a survey asking you to rank seven historical CV labels, and two emerged as the clear favorites. Since then, artists have been working on recreating those two labels, and the Upland team wants you to help pick the winner.
But that’s not the only way you can contribute to the resurrection of this historic beer brand. The Upland team has also put together several historical CV slogans, as well as a few new ones, and they want you to help them decide which one will represent the new CV.
Click Here to take the survey between Monday, January 14th and Thursday, January 17.
Want more? By participating in the survey, you’ll automatically put yourself in the running to sit on the Champagne Velvet Tasting Panel. The Panel will gather at Upland’s brewery in Bloomington, Indiana on Sunday, January 27th to taste multiple pilot batches that the brewers of Upland have been developing in their attempts to use modern ingredients and equipment to replicate CV’s earliest pre-prohibition recipe, based on the hand-written notes of Terre Haute Brewing Company assistant brewer Walter Braun. Anyone who participated in the December survey or in this survey will be entered, and 15 names will be selected at random.
“The Champagne Velvet heritage belongs to everyone,” says Upland President Doug Dayhoff, “so we want to let everyone be a part of this process.”
Upland’s brewers will use the feedback of the Tasting Panel to determine the final formula and brew the first full-scale batch of CV. The finished product will be released to a thirsty public in early April. Stay tuned for information about CV release festivities in the coming months.
