Oskar Blues – Quick News Bits on Expansion, GUBNA, Dales Tall Cans and More
We caught up with Oskar Blues to see what’s in store for this year. We talk about current product line, distribution, restaurants and more. Cheers!
The Return of GUBNA
GUBNA is set to return to shelves in the next week. The flavor has been tweaked a bit, and this can be credited to adding Cascade hops to the bill.
New markets targeted?
This year we have our eyes on 4-6 new markets. The last four years of investment have helped this become a reality. The only one we can say for sure as of press is Michigan. We need to sort things out with various distributors in the other regions before we say anything more.
What else?
While we don’t have any new products per se, we will be canning Chaka, which was a collaboration we did last year with Sun King Brewing, at our brewery, using those new Alumi-tek cans. While we will be solely brewing it, it was still be a collaboration in spirit.
We hope to expand the 19.2 oz cans of Dales to all territories we are in, and the idea of putting out a mixed pack has been discussed.
Speaking of Dales, Dale’s was our best seller in 2012, accounting for 60% of our sales, up 52% from the previous year.
We’ve been asked about any differences or changes to our beer if it is to come from our new North Carolina facility. There will be no confusion as to where it came from, as if it’s made in Colorado, it will say Colorado. If it’s from North Carolina, it will say that as well. We’d be curious to hear feedback on the subtle differences, based on the difference in waters from each state.
