Odell Brewing – Mountain Standard and Dark Days are Coming!
Fort Collins, Colo. – On November 6, 2010 Odell Brewing will embrace the end of Daylight Savings time and celebrate the return of this year’s Mountain Standard, a Double Black IPA.
In late summer, Odell Brewing ventured west in search of world class, locally grown hops. What they found was a bounty of hops from farms along Colorado’s Western Slope. Odell brewers helped harvest the homegrown hops and then brewed a lively India Black Ale to showcase them.
Cascade and Chinook hops render an ephemeral bitterness that balances the dark roasted malts. Mountain Standard pours rich and dark with an almond colored head and boasts a delicately spicy hop nose. At 9.5% ABV, Mountain Standard is offered in 750 ml cork and cage finish bottles. It will be available throughout the brewery’s nine state distributor region at a suggested retail price of $12.99 per bottle.
“Our motivation with the 2010 Mountain Standard offering was to brew an inspiring beer that uses ingredients from Colorado farmers,” said brewer Joe Mohrfeld. “Whenever supplies and quality permit, we want support these local craft growers and ensure the sustainability of hop farms throughout Colorado’s western slope.”
The brewery will celebrate the release of Mountain Standard Double Black IPA on Saturday November 6th as part of the Dark Days of November; A Black Pint Affair, a month-long celebration of darker days and brews. Throughout the month, the brewery’s Tap Room will host a variety of events featuring dark beers, food pairings, and live music.
