The Red Cock Doppel Bock was awarded a Silver medal in the Double Bock category at the Great International Beer Competition. Maui Brewing Co. entered this year’s Great International Beer Competition – an event that is in its eleventh year and was held November 10th in Providence, Rhode Island. This event is America’s largest international beer festival. On November 10th the winners were announced at a public ceremony. Two hundred ten beers (including 14 imports) from 47 breweries representing 11 states and seven countries entered the competition. Forty-five professional brewers and beer industry journalists acted as judges in a blind tasting format. First, second and third place awards were presented in 21 categories of ales and lagers. The judges knew only the style and subcategory of each beer.

This medal is the fourth award received by the Red Cock Doppel Bock in the last eighteen months (MBC has received a total of eleven medals for its various beers over this period). Red Cock Doppel Bock has won twice now internationally and received two domestic awards as well. “We’re very proud of this beer; I’ve always loved Doppel Bocks and its great to see that ours continues to dominate internationally. This further validates the fact that we truly make some of the best beers in the world” adds Garrett W. Marrero.

Founder and owner, Garrett Marrero and his wife, Melanie, run a 7-barrel brewpub at the Kahana location as well as a recently added 25-barrel full production brewery and canning facility in Lahaina. Maui Brewing Co. is a truly local beer as100% of their products are made in Hawaii as opposed to other “Hawaiian” beers.
