London Grill’s Innovative Bar Serves Philadelphia’s First ‘Beer Drinks’
Philadelphia, PA – One of Philadelphia’s most beloved restaurants, London Grill (2301 Fairmount Avenue), has combined two of their favorite libations – beer and cocktails – to create the city’s first menu of Beer Drinks. Combining house-infused spirits, premium mixers and world-class beers, the beer drinks menu is a celebration of the creativity of London Grill’s talented mixologists, led by co-owner Terry Berch McNally.
“Our guests know they can count on us for some of Philadelphia’s most innovative, delicious cocktails,” says Berch McNally, “and this new beer drinks menu is an exciting next step for us. From creating the house-made infusions to researching and testing these recipes, we’ve created a menu that is all our own, and a very special experience for our guests.”
Fascinating beer drinks include: London Shandy, Fuller’s ESB, Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur and lemon; Sierra Red Eye, Sierra Nevada pale ale with a shot of spicy house-made Bloody Mary mix; Flower Bud, Budweiser, crème de violette and St. Germain elderflower liqueur; Bank Robber, Stoudt’s Willie Sutton lager, house-infused green tea vodka and Irish Mist; Smoke ‘Em If You Got ‘Em, Victory Prima Pils with mescal, chipotle vodka, lime and a salt rim; and How Now Brown Cow, Brooklyn brown ale with Nocello and espresso vodka. In all, London will offer 14 rotating beer cocktails, ranging in price from $5 to $8 with up to 10 varieties available daily.
“While we’ve created all of these recipes from scratch, many are inspired by 19th-century Victorian cocktails,” says McNally. “There is a tremendous interest in old-fashioned cocktails right now, and we’re proud to be a part of that movement with these time-honored yet innovative drinks.” Striking a perfect balance between a cozy neighborhood pub and fine dining restaurant, London Grill has remained one of the city’s most popular destinations since 1991. Located in the historic Fairmount neighborhood, a short walk form the Franklin Institute and its neighboring museums, the beloved restaurant and bar has gained a reputation for its creative menus, which draw on American comfort favorites and cuisines from around the world.
London Grill has been featured in Bon Appetit, CNN, US Airways Magazine and Philadelphia magazine. In his review, Philadelphia Inquirer critic Craig LaBan wrote, “You can’t get this kind of cooking in most neighborhood restaurants, but the London Grill pulls it off with a blend of laid-back ambiance and quality food that sits just right.”
