Knee Deep Brewing Revises Growler Filling Policies
California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) policy regarding growlers is that prior to selling a growler, the brewery must submit form ABC-412, included with the form must be a picture of the growler, a copy of the specific verbiage on the growler, the growler size and any associated tags that will be attached to the growler.
Once approval has been received for a specific size growler, a brewery may fill any growler that size, including a growler bearing the name of another brewery, if the filling brewery covers all other brewery information with the exact labeling approved in their ABC-412 application. In order to make this relabeled growler legal to fill, no part of the original information on the growler may be visible.
Knee Deep Brewing Company Growler Policy:
Knee Deep Brewing Company currently holds an ABC approval to fill the Palla style, .53 gallon growler. We will refill non Knee Deep growlers, if they are the Palla style, .53 gallon, subject to the following. At the time they are filled, the growlers will be labeled with Knee Deep labels, approximate size 3.5” X 2.5”, on the front and approximate 5” X 2.5”on the back. If the original information printed on the growlers is too large to be covered by the Knee Deep labels, then the growler will not be filled. If the growler appears to be defective in any way, then the growler will not be filled. No other size or style growler will be filled at Knee Deep, as we do not have ABC approval for other types/sizes of growlers.
This policy will remain in effect until such time as the current ABC growler policy changes.
