Jester King Releases RU-55 Barrel Aged Sour Red Ale
The latest bottle release from our barrel room is RU-55 Barrel Aged Sour Red Ale. RU-55 is an unfiltered, unpasteurized, naturally conditioned red ale aged for months in oak barrels with wild yeast and souring bacteria. The result is an exceedingly dry, tart beer with flavors and aromas of berry, oak, funk and mild spice. It’s 7.3% alcohol by volume and brewed with 86% organic ingredients.
RU-55 is brewed in tribute to our good friend and longtime professional brewer Russ Beattie. Russ helped us build Jester King and brew our first several batches of beer. Ranks, Thuss.
A small number of casks and kegs of RU-55 debuted back in October during Austin Beer Week and at our Second Annual Funk & Sour Fest. The vast majority of our first batch, which went into bottles, is about to be released. A few cases will be delivered to on-site accounts in Austin this Friday including Banger’s, Black Star Co-op, Hopfields and Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza. Off-site accounts throughout Texas will receive bottles of RU-55 over the next few weeks. A small amount of RU-55 will be sent to out of state beer festivals over the next several months.
