Green Flash Brewing Releases Silva Stout to Introduce Packaging Change
Vista, CA – Green Flash Brewing Co. is proud to announce the release of Silva Stout. “Silva Stout is named for our brewmaster, Chuck Silva, and is a tribute to Chuck and our entire brewing team.
It is their hard work and dedication to our craft that has made Green Flash one of the premier specialty ale breweries in the country,” according to Mike Hinkley, Green Flash founder.
Chuck Silva, on making the beer: “Silva Stout took a lot of patience. We aged our Double Stout in oak bourbon barrels for seventeen months. Flavors are very complex. It starts off with dark chocolate truffles rolled in cocoa powder. Next is the vanilla and wood notes, with rich cherry-like fruitiness. After racking and filtering the ale, we blended in just the right amount of freshly brewed Double Stout to provide the perfect balance of bourbon barrel aging and freshness. Enjoy the culmination of years of flavor development now – no further aging required!” Silva Stout is a special, limited release and currently available only in four packs at the brewery during the tasting room’s public hours.
The beer also marks a shift in packaging at Green Flash. Beginning on October 1st, all 12 ounce bottles of Green Flash ales will be in the new custom Green Flash bottle and in four pack cartons rather than six packs. The new Green Flash bottle is designed to hold higher pressures. Previously, certain Green Flash ales, which are re-fermented in the bottles, have been only available in larger bottles capable of holding the higher pressure. Jim Kenny, Sales Director at Green Flash said, “The change from four packs to six packs and the new Green Flash bottle will provide our customers more choice. They like to buy a variety of craft beers and the smaller package size and wider selection of ales available in 12 ounce bottles accommodates them.”
Green Flash Brewing Co., located in San Diego County, California, was founded in 2002 by Mike and Lisa Hinkley. We are an award-winning brewer of fine, hand-crafted ales, and specialize in brewing assertive and distinctive beers, such as our West Coast I.P.A.: an award-winning beer whose wide acceptance has helped define a category. We brew nine styles of beer regularly, on draught and in bottles. We also brew seasonal and special offerings, including several barrel-aged beers, throughout the year. Our tasting room is open on Fridays from 4:00p-8:00p, Saturdays from 12:00p – 5:00p and Sundays 12:00p – 4:00p for tasting and tours.
