Future Beers: Stone, Allagash, Anchor, Green Flash & SweetWater
We are back from vacation, ready to share some future beers. We present you a first look at some beers that are either on deck for distribution, refreshed, or set for a new seasonal series. Enjoy!
Allagash Map 40
Allagash is bottling their take on a coffee stout with cold brewed coffee. Many breweries have found much more desireable results in cold steeped coffee additions rather than traditional hot brewed coffee that many brewers have used for years. This makes for a smoother, more mocha like beer without the acidity or staleness you sometimes get. They have teamed up with Speckled Ax Coffee Roasters, who use a wood fire roasting system for roasting their beans.
Anchor Brewing Los Gigantes
While usually reserved for the macro brewers, San Francisco’s own Anchor Brewing is creating a very drinkable Mexican-style lager for the San Francisco Giants fan and market. This idea is genius for any market, this beer should sell well.
Green Flash GFB Ale
Firestone Walker found success in the launch of 805 Ale a few years ago. It would seem that given the option, people will buy an easy going craft dad beer. Since then, Stone, 21st Amendment and many other medium sized brewery have gotten hip to this style of beer, and it would seem that Green Flash GFB ale is the next lager-like ale to hit the market, targeting that dad life.
Stone Give Me IPA or Give Me Death IPA
Stone just announced the first in their series of new Virginia collaborations, Give Me Stout or Give Me Death, and it would appear the next beer will be this. Like the Stout, this beer will feature raspberries and blackberries grown in Virginia.
SweetWater Brewing Hatchery Series #1
It would appear SweetWater is begging their own rotational hop series with Hatchery Series Release #1. Notice the toned down branding and more focus on the ingredients.

That Stone IPA sounds epic. Definitely cool to see them brewing on the East Coast (within road tripping distance). The SweetWater hop series sounds interesting. Anchor’s new lager sounds cool – I’m sure they can do that style much better than most, though lagers generally have to be really unique to get my attention. When I think “lager”, I usually think “boring”. But then again, Anchor never puts out a dull offering.
