Full Sail Adds To Bump in the Night to Brewmasters Reserve Series for 2011
Hood River, OR – The days are getting shorter and the temps are falling, but there is plenty of reason to rejoice this month.
The holiday season is in full swing, the mountains are covered in snow, and Full Sail Brewing Company will release Bump in the Night, the first and newest beer in their 2011 Brewmaster Reserve line up (see below).
Bump in the Night is brewed in the Cascadian Dark Ale (CDA) style and is the perfect companion for long winter nights.
The array of dark malts present a full bodied beer with notes of cocoa and slight roast. It has a big floral citrus hop flavor and bitterness, reminiscent of an IPA. Bump in the Night will be available in specialty beer stores and pubs on draught and in 22oz bottles Mid December to March. ABV 6.5%, IBU 65.
“We are excited about our 2011 Brewmaster Reserve Line-up (see below), as a small, independent craft brewer we have the freedom to be creative and explore new beer styles. It was our lead brewer, Barney Brennan, who suggested the style and we think it’s the perfect addition to our rotating selection of Brewmaster Reserve beers. Every eight to ten weeks we come out with a different beer that showcases the brewer’s art. We began the program back in 1998 as a way of celebrating our independence and creativity,” said Full Sail’s Founder and CEO, Irene Firmat.
Full Sail’s 2011 Brewmaster Reserve Program will begin with Bump in the Night CDA. In February, the brewery will release Black Gold Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout as part of their vintage barrel aged series.
Here is the Lineup for 2011

Black Gold Bourbon Imperial Stout – Available February until it’s gone!
A hearty brew that is black as night with a strong roasted malt character and a full body. After its initial release in Febuary 2010, our Imperial Stout was aged for about 10 months in Bourbon casks from Kentucky. This extended aging presents hints vanilla and oak. This, combined with the robust character of the Imperial Stout make for a smooth, wonderful taste experience. A hearty cellar beer. Very Limited Availability – 22oz Bottles and Draught. (Silver medal winner at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival in the Wood and Barrel Aged Strong beer category) ABV 11.4% IBUs: 65
Full Sail Imperial Porter – Available March to April
An amplified robust porter with a deep black color, a roasty malt flavor and a rich malt sweetness that’s smooth and drinkable. A hearty cellar beer. Half the batch will be racked in bourbon casks, after a year of aging it will be released as Top Sail Bourbon Barrel Porter in February 2012. It’s a stellar cellar beer, so make sure you put a few bottles away this year to compare it to next year’s bourbon barrel batch. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught. ABV 7.5% IBUs: 60
Hop Pursuit Extra Pale – Available March to June
As the sun rises earlier and stays out longer, we celebrate the coming of spring and the sprouting of this year’s hop crop with Hop Pursuit. A crisp, orange blonde extra pale ale with a medium malt body that’s chased by a ton of hop flavor and zing of bitterness. We brewed it with the less aggressive, old school craft brewing hops– Cascade, Willamette, and Mt. Hood– to celebrate more of the hop flavor and less of the hop bitterness. These give the beer a nice and fresh citrus herbal character without a lot of intensity; instead it has a softly flavorful character with touches of orange and lemon. We dry hopped for two weeks to amplify these delicate hop flavors. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught. ABV 6% IBU 55
Elevation Imperial IPA – Available June to September
New for 2011, this Imperial IPA’s full malt body is elevated by the loads of hop flavor and bitterness. Copious amounts of hops are used to give this beer a wonderful aroma. Available in 22oz Bottles and Draught ABV 7.5% IBUs: 80
Sanctuary Belgian Style Dubbel – Available Mid-August to November
Rich malt aromas fill the nose. Flavors of biscuit and roast are rounded by a rich sweet malt character. This Dubbel is lightly hopped and finishes with Belgian yeast spice notes and a chewy finish. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught. ABV 7% IBU 20
Old Boardhead Barleywine Ale – Reserve 10
A deliciously rich barleywine that has spectacular depth and delicacy of flavor that is deep and robust. Its strong, sweet body is balanced with Centennial and Crystal hops for a pleasant hoppiness and finish. Makes a great cellar beer. Available in 22oz. bottles and draught year round. ABV 9% IBU 91
Lupulin Fresh Hop Ale – Available Mid-September to November
A veritable hop lovers delight. Lupulin is brewed with fresh hops straight from the harvest which highlight the brewer’s art as well as nature’s gift. This beer is all about hops; it’s wet hopped, kettle hopped, hop back hopped, and dry hopped in the fermenter with 150 pounds of hops per batch. That’s 7.5 pounds of hops per barrel! It has a bold hop aroma of citrus and spice and a nice caramel flavor with a pronounced citrus character. Draught Only.
ABV 5.8% IBUs: 70
Wreck the Halls – Available November to Mid-January
This annual favorite is a sublime hybrid of an American style IPA and a winter warmer. The result is a bold brew that celebrates the holidays with an intriguing blend of Centennial hops providing elegant citrus notes balanced by a backdrop of a rich caramel malt body.
