East End Brewing – Homewood Reserve 2009
From East End Brewing’s Scott –
Hi there GOOD BEER Fans,
We’re still a week or two away from the full-blown newsletter, but I wanted to get this Late-Breaking GOOD BEER update out to you right away – especially considering the limited number of bottles involved.
HOMEWOOD RESERVE 2009 HAD BEEN RELEASED:
As you may have ready earlier this week in Twitter, we released Homewood Reserve yesterday during Growler Hours. Yes, East End Brewing now Twitters, under the name EastEndBrewing of all things. (See http://twitter.com/EastEndBrewing if you still don’t know what I’m talking about). I’ll be doing lots more advanced-release type announcements this way in the future (like 2008 Gratitude in less than a month), so it pays to sign up. And it’s free.
To refresh your memory, Homewood Reserve is our regular Black Strap Stout that’s been aged in an oak bourbon barrel, and then hand bottled in our 1 liter swingtops. Due to the relatively small size of the barrel, we only get 200 bottles per batch, and about 30 or so left are already gone.
Full disclosure here: We’ve used this same barrel a few times now, so any bourbon flavor you might find in this round (labeled as our 2009
release) is probably at least 90% imagination. There’s still a nice amount of Oak character to it though, some tannins, and some vanilla notes, but I’ll let your palate sort that out…
As before, bottles of Homewood Reserve will set you back $13, plus 3 for the bottle deposit, and so that everyone has a chance to get some, there is a limit of 4 bottles per person, per day. Please plan accordingly – or bring lots of GOOD FRIENDS. The Snow Melt Growler 2-fer is likely to come to an end this weekend, so there’s that to entice them too.
Hope to see you here soon!
Cheers,
Scott
