Deschutes Brewery Wins Big at the GABF
(October 16, 2007 – Bend, OR) Deschutes Brewery recently claimed three gold medals at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival Competition, the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States today. The top three winners in the competition’s 75 beer-style categories were announced October 13th at the 26th Great American Beer Festival Awards Ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.
Deschutes Brewery was recognized in the Bitter or Mild Ale category for its Pub Bitter, the International-Style Pilsner category for 4K Pilsner and the Imperial Stout category for The Abyss. The 2007 Great American Beer Festival Competition winners were selected by an international panel of brewing experts from an impressive field of 2,832 entries received from 474 U.S. breweries. More than 1,500 breweries were invited to compete.
We are continually experimenting and having fun with such a wide variety of beers, says Brett Porter, Deschutes Brewery’s Head Brewer. To have three of those beers recognized by the GABF is an amazing bonus.
