Deschutes Brewery Raises More Than $12,000 for Clean Rivers
On Saturday, April 26th, Deschutes Brewery raised more than $12,000 for Oregon Trout at a sold-out preview event held at the new Portland Deschutes Brewery and Public House. The event coincided with the opening of the new pub, located in Portlands Pearl District.
One of Deschutes Brewerys core values is Sharing Our Success with the Community. This celebration and partnership with Oregon Trout represents the strong commitment Deschutes has to tackling the very real, very challenging issue of water quality in Oregons rivers.
One hundred percent of the April 26th dinner proceeds went to Oregon Trout, a non-profit organization that actively works to restore freshwater health through innovation and education. The organizations goal is simple: return health to every stream in the state, while inviting every student in Oregon to act as a steward of his or her home waters through educational and volunteer programs.
The partnership between the two organizations is a strong one; Deschutes Brewery Founder and President, Gary Fish, sits on the Oregon Trout board of directors. The brewery also partners with Oregon Trout to sponsor the annual Portland triathlon.
As Fish states, We know the value of healthy rivers in Oregon. After all, it takes healthy waters to make great beer.
