Craft Beer News Roundup: Wachussett,Kern River,Dark Horse and More
The Full Pint scours near and far to bring you the latest Craft Beer News. In this edition of Craft Beer News Roundup, we share tidbits from Wachusett, Kern River, Dark Horse and More!
Wachussett Brewing – We’re excited to be releasing our Wachusett White in 22 oz. bottles in March. It’s a 4.8% Belgian Style White Ale. Unfiltered, and uses nine different malts and spices for a refreshing beer all through spring and summer. The White will replace our Milk Stout on the shelves, but don’t worry, it’ll be back in September.
Kern River Brewing – On the expansion front: “We put a new 21 bbl FV in this fall that is designated for distribution only. That means we hope to keep a steady stream of beer going to Southern California and, you heard it first here, we are going to be distributing to the central coast starting this week! We are also in the early stages of looking at some other options, so anyone who loves beer and has tons of cash to spend on stainless steel should give us a call :)”
Dark Horse Brewing – On the collaboration front: “We will be doing Dark Corner with Corner Brewery again this year. We did it a few years back but took a break from it because we were having problems keeping up with production. The Release will be at Dark Horse”
On the expansion front: “We are in the middle of a big new expansion. We purchased a 18,000 sq ft building and have been under construction since April we are putting in a new JV Northwest 20 bbl 3 vessel brew house, new fermentation, new bright tanks and adding to our existing bottling line to make it more efficient. It will be an awesome facility we will be online with it in March 2011. It will up our capacity to over 30,000 bbls. We will be adding some new states and hiring another sales rep to work with Mike so we can better take care of the territory we already distribute in. As for state we will be adding. Right away we will be adding New York and North Carolina. We will be add up to 10 more state in the next few years. Some more out east and down south. We will make sure the area we have is taken care of and add states as we can take care of them. We will not be getting the new facility going and just add on a bunch of states. We want to make sure areas are taken care of before adding more.” Also look out for tweaked labels in the future to freshen things up a bit.
