The Full Pint brings you a new edition of Craft Beer News Roundup. Read on for great Philly Beer Week 2011 news from Southern Tier, Troegs and Flying Fish as well as Ballast Point Brewing, Saint Arnold Brewing and Firestone Walker.
Southern Tier Brewing– Reported on The Philly Beer Examiner by Bobby Clark – “Most exciting is the fact a brewery over 325 miles away from Philadelphia is brewing a beer exclusively for Philly Beer Week, and they’ve named it after our predominate telephone area code. Southern Tier Brewing Co., distributed by Shangy’s and enjoyed by many, has brewed 215 Pale Ale; perfect in name and perfect for the season. 215 Pale Ale is slated to weigh in at 6.0% ABV. Troegs Brewery – “We will have our latest collaboration beer on tap “brotherly suds”. Yards,Victory,Nodding Head, and Troegs brewed at Stoudts a lager with Schmidts yeast, noble and American hops, and some good old fashioned floor malted Germans pils malt for Philly Craft Beer Week.”
Flying Fish Brewing – “We’re too busy keeping up with our regular styles this summer to try to sneak out a new Exit beer, but we’ve done the next best thing. Based on your votes, we’ve decided to rebrew one batch each of Exit 11 Hoppy Wheat and Exit 16 Wild Rice Double IPA for draft only. The beers will start shipping this week, so look for them on tap when you’re out and about.” As part of Philly Beer Week, we’ll be showcasing all seven Exit series beers for this one-time only special event at JG Domestic. You won’t want to miss these beers paired with some amazing foods. More info and reservations
Ballast Point Brewing – Ballast Point is putting Barrel Aged Piper Down Scottish Ale on tap and growler fill starting today. Here is a link to a nice graphic for the beer, hopefully we might see that on a bottle one day. “we will have two gold medal winning brews for your drinking pleasure, Sculpin IPA and our Bourbon Barrel Aged Piper Down Scottish Ale. Barrel Aged Piper is an awesomely drinkable beverage with a great deal of complexity. If you haven’t tried it, you should come down and get a taste. It has become a favorite amongst the folks at the taster bar. Really good stuff available to take home with you tomorrow only at both of our brewery locations.”
Saint Arnold Brewing – “Weedwacker is now in bottles! It should start showing up on store shelves tomorrow. The label looks similar to Lawnmower except the yard has gone to seed. Oh, and the white sticky across the Lawnmower label that announces “Weedwacker”. You will note its nice, hazy appearance, the result of both the fact that it is not filtered and that hefeweizen yeast is notorious for not flocking. We hope you enjoy this beer as much as we are!”
Firestone Walker – Firestone Walker has re-opened their online store, and has a new Parabola t-shirt. http://www.firestonebeer.com/shop/
