Lompoc Brewery – This weekend’s Sidebar lineup features 1060 EZ Taxation Ale, a high gravity golden ale brewed with flaked corn. Its deep golden color and aroma of corn grits complement the light body and flavor notes of cornbread and honey; Don’s Bitter, our tribute to Don Younger, brewed with Golden Promise malt and English Challenger and Fuggle hops for a deep golden hue and an earthy, slightly sweet maltiness that is delicately balanced by English hops; Genesis IPA, the first beer to be brewed on Lompoc’s new brew system. It has a copper color, slight bitterness and hoppy aroma; Cedar Proof Ale, our Living Proof Belgian Dubbel aged on cedar planks for five days. Made with malted barley, corn, molasses and Cluster hops, there are hints of licorice and tobacco with a malty body and a dry finish; Port Barrel Aged Brewdolph, a Belgian style red ale aged in Maryhill Winery Port barrels for 14 months. It has a deep mahogany color, fruity aroma, and strong oak flavors; and LSD (Lompoc Strong Draft), a strong ale with a deep mahogany color that’s crafted with six hop varieties, seven different specialty malts and a touch of smoked malt for a complex aroma and incredible flavor. Sidebar is open Friday 4-10 pm and Saturday, 2-10 pm and is located at 3901 N Williams, just past Pix Patisserie.
Next Friday, April 29 is the release party for C-Dog Double IPA at Sidebar. A collaborative beer brewed with the Lucky Lab back in March, C-Dog was the final beer to ever be brewed on the Lucky Lab Brewhouse that we’ve been using for the past six years. Coined a “Lucky Lompodor Production,” C-Dog is a 50/50 blend of C-son’s Greetings and Superdog. Both beers were brewed into one fermenter, with nine types of hops added in the kettle (the seven Cs, Fuggles & Amarillos). The entire fermenter was then dry-hopped with another eight types of hops for a ridiculous total of 32 lbs of hops in a 10 bbl batch. The malt profile includes flaked barley, Crystal 75 and Munich. The final ABV is 7.4%. It will be available in bottles and on draft at both Lompoc and Lucky Lab for a limited time.
