Clipper City Says “Winter Storm” Is Here
Clipper City City Brewing Company Releases Winter Storm “Category 5” Ale
Seasonal Brew Voted Best International Pale Ale at 2008 World Beer Cup
Baltimore, MD – Clipper City Brewing Company, the Maryland-based brewer of the Heavy Seas brands, announced today its seasonal release of Winter Storm “Category 5” Ale. Referred to as a “winter warmer”, the beer is brewed with copious amounts of English and US malt and hops, has a ruddy hue, and displays full malty flavors mingling with powerful hop aromas.
Winter Storm received the Gold medal in the International Pale Ale category at the 2008 World Beer Competition last April. The Clipper City product outperformed approximately two dozen different entries from around the globe to win the honor and earn this distinction for the next two years.
“We are eager for the release of Winter Storm this year coming off the win at the World Beer Cup,” said Hugh Sisson, founder and general partner of Clipper City Brewing Company. “This is one of our most popular beers, and with the gold medal win, Winter Storm should have a remarkable year.”
The beer is seasonally available from October to February, while supplies last. It pairs well with very sharp cheddar, burgers and grilled ribs.
Clipper City Brewing Company has eight beers in its pirate-themed Heavy Seas brand portfolio, and each is currently available in 20 states, as well as the District of Columbia. The beers are available in both 12 oz. bottles and draft, and may also be purchased in a variety twelve pack called the “Sunken Sampler.”
Clipper City Brewing Company was founded in 1995 by Baltimore brewing pioneer, Hugh Sisson. The brewery is named for the famous Baltimore Clipper ship, a symbol that embodies Baltimore’s maritime heritage and a commitment to craftsmanship of the highest caliber. In addition to the Heavy Seas line of beers, Clipper City’s portfolio of products includes the Clipper City brand and the recently released one hundred percent organic line, Oxford Organic Ales.
