Clipper City Brewing Company Releases “Red Sky At Night”
Baltimore, MD – Clipper City Brewing Company, the Maryland-based brewer of the Heavy Seas brand, today announced the 2008 release of its seasonal beer, “Red Sky at Night.” A Belgian Saison in style, “Red Sky at Night” is brewed to a strength of around 7.5% alcohol by volume and available from now until mid-June.
“We always enjoy brewing this beer,” said Hugh Sisson, founder and General Partner for Clipper City Brewing Company. “The spicy character produced by our special Belgian yeast culture gives this beer a flavor profile entirely different from anything else we produce, both crisp and fruity simultaneously. An enjoyable combo to kick off spring.”
Saison is a Belgian country farm house style of ale. Pale gold in color, the beer is soft on the palate with a delicate yet noticeable spicy character and a crisp, dry finish.
“We intentionally go very easy on the hops with this beer,” added Sisson. “The real character of the beer comes from the yeast.”
Clipper City Brewing Company has eight beers in its pirate-themed Heavy Seas brand portfolio, and they are currently available in eighteen states, as well as the District of Columbia. The beers exist in both 12 oz. bottles and draft, and may also be purchased in a variety twelve pack called the Sunken Sampler.
Clipper City Brewing Company was founded in 1995 by Baltimore brewing pioneer, Hugh Sisson. The brewery is named for the famous Baltimore Clipper ship, a symbol that embodies Baltimore’s maritime heritage and a commitment to craftsmanship of the highest caliber. In addition to the Heavy Seas line of beers, Clipper City’s portfolio of products includes the Clipper City brand and Oxford Organic Ales. www.clippercitybeer.com
