The Craft Brewers Conference is the industry’s largest annual gathering and this year it’s taking place in San Diego. One lucky brewery is chosen to brew the symposium beer that is given to each conference attendee (over 4,000 this year!) and served at bars/breweries around town. This year, Karl Strauss Brewing Company was given the honor and working in collaboration with the San Diego Brewers Guild, brewed a “San Diego Pale Ale”. This tongue-in-cheek “San Diego Pale Ale” showcases the aggressive bitterness and vibrant citrus hop profile of a West Coast Double IPA—a style pioneered in San Diego. In addition to being served at the conference, San Diego Pale Ale was given to each member of the SD Brewers Guild to be served at tasting rooms and breweries across the county. Select beer bars will also have it on tap so the public can sample the beer. All ingredients were donated by various vendors, as can be seen on the label.
